The location of the hotel is magnificent and best possible, just next door to town centre, a restaurant, which was far superior and the railway. Guests have all their needs satisfied by the attentive and caring staff.

Luxurious and fairly quiet room and large bathroom with a shower, hair dryers and bath sheets. Fantastic location really close to all the shops we could have wanted, outstanding breakfast.

Staff are very friendly & helpful
Hotel is in need of a refurb, rooms are small & dated, no air con & when it's warm you can't open a window properly to get air in your room. I've stayed in many a hotel where the rooms were cleaned more thoroughly

This was a last minute reservation for an overnight stay as we ended a holiday in The Orkneys before heading home. An internet search came up with this hotel as being one of the few available with a brand I knew!. We found the room to be ok. The bed was wonderfully large but I'm sorry to say that when comparing with a "standard chain" room we used the next day near Aberdeen the standard was the same but the Thistle was 3 times the price. The restaurant food was good but not inexpensive. So I suppose the thing we liked best was the big bed.
Value for money. Having to hunt for the kettle and the tea and coffee. One pathetically small shortbread biscuit each. Feeling guilty opening a packet to use the extra pair of towels - when eventually we found them. Wondering why the tv hid the socket for the kettle meaning I had to move the tv. Wondering what the round (5amp?) plug hole was for when it was the best place for a square pin plug hole for the kettle.

A Pleasant Stay with Great Amenities
I enjoyed a comfortable night in the well-kept standard double room. The on-site pub offered delicious food late into the night, and the relaxed vibe made for a cozy atmosphere. Don't miss the spa amenities. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect for unwinding!

The hotel was in a good location for the city and was reasonable value for the price paid.
The room was tired in decoration and cleanliness. There could have been a simple breakfast offered included in the price. Coffee making facilities were very poor.
